Makers of Bigil Land in Legal Trouble; Embroiled In Cheating Case

Superhit South movie Bigil has landed in legal trouble. Director Atlee, writer and producers have a cheating case filed against them by debut director Nandi Chinni Kumar. According to reports Nandi had bought the rights from Akhilesh Paul, in order to make a film, but makers of Bigil went ahead with the film without informing him about the same

Makers of Bigil Land in Legal Trouble; Embroiled In Cheating Case
South movie Bigil has hit rough waters, with its box office release. The movie has landed its makers in a legal soup for the copyright issue and in a cheating case. Debut director Nandi Chinni Kumar has filed a cheating case against the makers of the film. According to reports in Pinkvilla.com, Nandi had purchased the rights of Akhilesh Paul, a known sport personality in order to make a feature film in any languages. However, the makers of Bigil went ahead and shot the film, without informing him.

Nandi had approached many film studios and production houses, when he had acquired the rights. However, now the debut director has filed a cheating case against Akhilesh Paul, producers Mahesh Koneru, Ramana Girivasan and director Atlee. Though, Nandi approached all the influential filmmaking bodies down south, but his efforts were in vain, with no response from any of them.  According to Pinkvilla, he tried contacting director Atlee, AR Rahman, writer and other producer, but everyone turned deaf ears to his complaint.  ALSO READ: Shah Rukh Khan To Announce 'Sanki' On His Birthday; Atlee To Direct The Film Post Bigil



He said, "Inspite of filing complaints well before the release of the film BIGIL/WHISTLE to Central Board of Film Certification, stating the films breached Cinematography Act and Copyright Act and mentioning I am the exclusive copyrights holder, they have ignored my complaints and went on to issue the Censor Certificate negligently ignoring the serious complaint which breaches Cinematography Act." 


 
Nandi had also approached Tamil Film Producers Council, Telangana Cinema Writers Association, Indian Motion pictures Producers Association, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce,Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce and Telugu Film Producers Council.
Towards the closure of his interview, he said, "Even though I have approached well before the release of the film, I will fight until I get the justice, necessary damages, credits and compensation."
